Our Services

If your child or family member is having difficulties with clearly communicating their needs and wants, cannot be understood by others, have a limited range of food and drink, or are unable to swallow safely, it is worth referring them for a speech pathology assessment.

Feeding/Swallowing assessment and intervention for:

  • Breast and bottle feeding issues (e.g. difficulty with latching, suck-swallow-breathing coordination).

  • Tube -oral feeding transitions (e.g. supporting development of oral skills such as sucking, chewing. Liaising with dietitian and nurse on tube weaning program). 

  • Fussy eaters (limited repertoire of food, sensory processing difficulties, difficulty chewing foods, pacing issues)

  • Nutritional issues (e.g. slow weight gain, modified diet requiring nutritional supplements)

  • Dysphagia (e.g. unable to chew foods or drink thin liquids, choking on foods, recurrent aspiration pneumonia). 

Speech, fluency and voice assessment and intervention for:

  • Speech sound delays (e.g. missing sounds, baby is not yet babbling)

  • Omitting or mispronouncing sounds

  • Dyspraxia and/or difficulties sequencing sounds (e.g. will say a word clearly one time and then the next time it will sound unclear)

  • Stuttering, getting stuck or repeating sounds/words/phrases when talking. 

  • Poor voice quality, history of vocal nodules, unable to regulate volume of voice, losing voice often. 

Literacy assessment and intervention for:

  • Difficulties with reading and writing

  • Difficulties with comprehension and story recall

  • Unable to sound out words

  • Difficulties with planning out sentences and paragraphs. 

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) assessment and intervention for:

  • Individuals with physical disability who need individually tailored access to communication. This may include using speech generating devices with single/multiple switch devices, eye gaze devices, joystick or alternative mouse devices, head array devices, touch screen devices with keyguards.

  • Individualised language software for speech generating devices e.g. Grid 3, Proloque2go, Look2Learn, MindExpress, WordPower. 

  • Low technology devices including visuals, e-tran frames, PECS books, PODD book, objects of reference and sign language.

Language assessment and intervention for:

  • Delayed talker, child is not yet using words or sentences

  • Word finding difficulties

  • Unable to put a clear sentence together due to limited vocabulary and/or difficulties with grammar.

  • Unable to follow simple instructions and understand basic concepts.

  • Unable to answer or ask questions

Social (Pragmatic) Language assessment and intervention for:

  • People with difficulties socialising (e.g. making new friends, starting a conversation)

  • Poor social awareness

  • Inappropriate use and understanding of non-verbal communication e.g. body language, facial expression, tone of voice.
